Visit Rebecca Caroline in Hye, Texas

We pour in the old Hye Post Office, on US-290 between Johnson City and Fredericksburg. Hiram “Hye” Brown put the building up in 1904, and it has been the centre of this small community ever since — mercantile, general store, feed store, and the post office where Lyndon Johnson mailed his first letter as a boy. Rebecca Caroline is the sparkling house of William Chris Vineyards, right across the street, and is named for the middle names of Chris and Katharine’s daughters. Everything we pour is grown in Texas and made by the traditional method — a second fermentation in the bottle, the way it is done in Champagne, and still rare in this state.

We are directly on Highway 290, about ten minutes west of Johnson City and about twenty minutes east of Fredericksburg. Coming from Austin, we are on your way into Fredericksburg — an easy stop rather than a detour.

Parking is free and on site, at the back of the building. The tasting room entrance is at the back too, so come round rather than trying the front door on the highway.

Closed Monday through Wednesday.

Walk-ins are welcome. We do encourage a reservation, particularly on Saturdays, when seats go early.

R.C. Community Table

Gather around our community table in the member’s lounge for a shared Rebecca Caroline experience designed to bring members together. Reservations are available for up to 6 guests and seating is arranged at one of two communal tables. This intimate setting encourages conversation, connection, and the chance to get to know fellow R.C. members over a glass of Texas-grown sparkling wine.

  • Arrive five to ten minutes before your reservation so we can seat you properly.
  • Reservations are for up to six guests. For a larger party, call us on 830.998.7654 and we will sort something out.
